Axel Hawk

BIO:

Axel Hawk is a retired heavyweight boxing champion seeking to make his comeback. He retired from the ring to stay in good health but was scouted by Wolfgang Krauser. Convinced of Krauser's skill, he agreed to be one of his three defenders. However, Axel grew worried for his mother's well being while working for the crimelord and quit crime after Krauser's defeat. He became Michael Max's teacher soon after. In Fatal Fury Special, he adopted Michael Max's Hurricane Upper technique. His design is loosely based on retired professional boxer, George Foreman.

Well, if I've ever seen a generic boxer design that went nowhere fast.... meh. They say his design is inspired by George Foreman, but I think he looks more like Butterbean. Although Axel Hawk slightly resembles Butterbean, I think Butterbean himself is a much better character. ^o^ Butterbean actually has personality and went somewhere in his life! 

Axel Hawk just seems like a "filler" character who was thrown into Fatal Fury 2 just for the sake of having a boxer in the game. It's apparent that SNK gave up on this design a long time ago, and that was probably a good idea. Even for an early 90's fighting game character design, this guy was painfully generic. Axel's stance is also pretty lame. PUT YOUR HANDS UP AT LEAST. Balrog would destroy this dude in the first 20 seconds of Round 1.  Dudley would knock him out in under 7 seconds. And finally, Steve Fox would purposely draw out the fight into round 2, where he stylishly dodged and countered for the perfect K.O. ;) Go home and be a family man, Axel.
