Darth
Vader is one of the main antagonists of the original Star Wars trilogy
and as the main protagonist of the prequel trilogy. Darth Vader began life as Anakin
Skywalker and was trained by the Jedi master Obi-Wan
Kenobi. Once
a Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker swore loyalty to Sith Lord Darth Sidious in
order to gain the power of the dark side of the Force, betraying the Jedi
Order and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
He became the apprentice of Emperor
Palpatine,
using the dark side of the Force to pursue and destroy the Jedi and the
Rebel Alliance. With
the rise of the Galactic Empire, Darth Vader became the Emperor's dark
enforcer. He carried out the Emperor's will, and commanded legions of Imperial
troops. Vader was tasked with discovering the secret headquarters of the Rebel
Alliance, as well as chasing down the Rebels who destroyed the Empire's
massive Death Star battle station.
Darth Vader was
encased in sinister black armor. The man underneath was mortally wounded in a
lightsaber duel, and the dark suit includes extensive machinery to keep Vader
alive. The sounds of his mechanical lungs accompany his every step. Such
injuries greatly diminished his ability to use the Force, but Vader is still
very powerful. He can command the power of the dark side to hurl objects or
remotely crush the throats of his victims.
Darth Vader first
appeared in the PS1 fighting game, Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi,
which wasn't well received. He later appeared as a playable guest character in
Soul Calibur IV. In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (and SCIV),
Galen Marek AKA "Starkiller" is his apprentice.

Darth Vader's first fighting game appearance
was indeed a disappointing one... but let's just leave Star Wars: Masters of Teras
Kasi in the forgotten past, where it belongs. Now, we all know Darth
Vader didn't exactly "fit in" with the cast of Soul Calibur,
but seriously, what other fighting game series would you rather see Darth Vader
appear in? ... *sound of crickets* ... Anyone? Okay then. That said, Namco brought Darth Vader into the next-gen of fighting games with style and gave the light-saber
wielding freak of nature one EPIC moveset. In Soul Calibur fashion, his
fighting animations were done brilliantly. In fact, Darth Vader never looked
or fought quite so badass in a video game, or even in a MOVIE, for that matter.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
On a side note, as
cool as Darth Vader is, something about him makes me giggle. Maybe
the fact that he can't turn his neck very far, or maybe it's that
set of 1970's-looking buttons on his chest. They control his breathing right?
Y'know, that's not very safe place to put such an important thing...
I mean, if I were to fight Darth Vader, I'd just push all chest buttons. That would work right?
lol.
