Freeman

BIO:

Freeman, real name unknown, is a mysterious British serial killer. He fights using slashing movements with his hands as if they were claws. He traveled to Second Southtown when he heard of the King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament, and hoped to kill his opponents. During the tournament, he killed a friend of Kevin Rian. After the tournament, Freeman was hunted down by Second Southtown's Police Department and was shot by a sniper. He fell into a river after being shot, but when the police looked for his body, he was nowhere to be found.

Every fighting game needs a freak or outcast. Freeman is probably one of SNK's cooler freak designs. He almost seems like a "gothed out" Benimaru, but his moves have more in common with Iori Yagami. Even though he's a badass, I think SNK could've fleshed him out just a bit more as a visual design. SNK did an excellent job with Freeman's alternate colors... they all suit him well. On a side note, I really love the Freeman desktop artwork at the top of this page... that one is still in my desktop wallpaper rotation. >;)

As badass as he is... I always thought Freeman was kind of a "sleeper" and nearly forgettable character in MOTW. For some reason, I forgot he existed a few times. Mysterious. Anyhow, Freeman might've inspired 2 later designs in the fighting game universe, those being Carmine from UNIEL & Tsukikage from Xuan Dou Zhi Wang. Judging from their moves, I think Freeman trained both of them.
