BIO:

Roughly a thousand years before the story of Samurai Shodown begins, Mizuki was infant who was thrown into the sea by her family due to the famine in her country. Her spirit inadvertently made a pact with Ambrosia because she died with such intense fear and hatred. She eventually washed ashore on the Shimokita Peninsula, and was found by a family of villagers. They named her Mizuki (which means "seeing") since she seemed to possess mystical abilities.

Thirteen years later, the village made a sacrifice and it formally contracts Ambrosia. It is then that Mizuki becomes the evil entity, Rashojin Mizuki.
Since then, Mizuki formed an eternal hatred towards humanity, and began creating various disasters around the world. Although she is an undead, she has to periodically change her body to gain her powers. 300 years later, she reaches her mental limit and hibernates near a shrine to recover her strength. A century later, she was challenged by a priestess called Bizuki, and found her to be a suitable host. Mizuki fed off of Bizuki's hightened spiritual senses, and took over her body. She was then sealed into a mountain hundreds of years later by several puppets and monks to gather her power.

Thirty years before Samurai Shodown II begins, she has a brief encounter with Nicotine Caffeine and Kuroko. She was awakened by
Amakusa's dark powers and plots to destroy the world, and soon invoked Ambrosia's mortal resurrection. To aid her work, she also hired a band of henchmen which includes Earthquake, Gen-an, and Genjuro (though he eventually betrays her due to lack of interest). Haohmaru and Nakoruru, whom had successfully survived the trip to Hell, stop her plans from succeeding. Upon her defeat, Mizuki and Ambrosia were sealed in the Makai (demon world).

Mizuki was and is an incredibly difficult boss to beat in Samurai Shodown 2. (Welcome to another installment of SNK Boss Syndrome.) She definitely took many quarters and tokens from 90's arcade kids... and was no doubt hated for her cheap and overpowered moves. One of her spells even swaps the player's movement controls backwards! While annoying, that trick was a pretty innovative new element to fighting games back then. In more ways than one, she's a memorable boss for the series.

Design-wise, she's a pretty cool evil sorceress / demon-possessed Japanese lady (who was previously a nice lady?). Worth mentioning, she also resembles several other female characters from anime & games (inspiring the likes of Maori from Arcana Heart). SNK did a decent job bringing her up to speed with a new sprite and animations Samurai Shodown 5 Special, though her moves are still laughably cheap and her fighting style is just weird compared to other characters in the series.
