Jean Pierre is a
French gymnast who always achieved perfect scores until one day he
unexpectedly scored a 9.98. Since that time, Jean began martial arts in order
to improve his grace and strength. He participates in the Great Grapple
tournament in order to see the results of his personal training. From within
his participation in the 1996 Summer Olympics, Jean was personally surprised
to see Ryoko
participating in the event as well. Later on, Jean would compete in the second
Great Grapple tournament in order to help buy a small chalet in the southern
region of France.
In Fighter's History: Mizoguchi Kiki Ippatsu!! cameo he encounters Mizoguchi
during the latter's quest. Jean agrees to help Mizoguchi out in taking him to
South Korea, but instead of having Mizoguchi ride in his personal aircraft,
Jean has him tied up on the front of the aircraft itself until Mizoguchi
inadvertently falls off and crashes into a local South Korean restaurant, to
where he unexpectedly meets up with and encounters Yungmie.

"This guy looks like such a pansy."
-My 10 year old self in 1993. I think Jean's actual official backstory is that
he was Guile's stunt double for a Street
Fighter movie sequel that later got cancelled. (Also, Jean got fired before
the movie was canceled because he was caught selling coke and showed up to work
smelling like... well... roses.)
By the time I was 11 or 12 years old, I would've been embarrassed play a game
like Fighters History... with the characters looking like cheap
"dollar store" versions of the REAL fighting game characters. In
retrospect, I don't hate Jean Pierre... I just don't like him. Still, something
about his design still has that cheesy, nostalgic 90s charm. His animations were
somewhat memorable.
