Mystics Announces Arcade1Up Killer Instinct Spectating Open Beta

are currently playable online via Arcade1Up's variety of home arcade
machines. Back in October 2022,
Arcade1Up announced a new Killer Instinct Pro Series arcade cabinet
packing new features and online play. While some Killer Instinct fans
might've been hoping for "bigger
news" following Code Mystics' mysterious countdown clock they
posted online a few days ago... what Code Mystics announced is a new
"Spectating" feature and Open Beta — specifically
for those who own an Arcade1Up Killer Instinct home arcade.
The Spectating feature
allows
players to track player stats and win/loss ratios, watch ongoing matches, set
passcodes, and "queue up"
to play next. Users can also decide to either "kick" or rematch
players waiting in line.
Believe it or not... prior to the newly-announced online features that Code
Mystics wants make the "new standard" for home arcades, normal
(console/PC-standard) online features such as "player names" and
"battle lobbies" don't exist on Arcade1Up's Killer Instinct home
arcade cabinets. Apparently, this has been a frequent complaint from customers
who shelled out good money (upwards of $600-$1000 USD) to purchase Arcade1Up's
home arcade machines. Below are some screens of the Spectating mode's user

"Though
Arcade1Up's team is fully occupied with their current and upcoming
products, we've gotten their permission to release our labour-of-love to
the community as an Open Beta," said Code Mystics. "People who opt-into the Beta will have
access to these new features, and you can opt out at any time."

Below is the original tweet and (somewhat confusing) teaser image from Code Mystics prior to
the countdown and announcement of the Killer Instinct Spectating Open Beta.
The teaser image caused some fans to think this might be an in-game
screenshot of a new lobby / avatar system for a potential Steam / modern console
re-release for classic Killer Instinct games. (Unfortunately, it's
not.)
