Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Announced for Steam, PS4/PS5, and Nintendo Switch

The Marvel vs. Capcom compilation that everyone has been waiting years for is FINALLY coming in 2024! Today, Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection for Steam, PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch packing seven fan-favorite 2D fighting games with new features and rollback-powered online play. The compilation includes: X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and classic side-scrolling beat-em-up, The Punisher. Watch the official Announce Trailer from Capcom USA and see the first Official Artwork, below.

Confirmed Features:  Additional training settings (including 1-button specials / super moves option), save states, numerous display filters and border artwork, Music Player with original songs from the arcade versions, Museum mode featuring never-before-seen artwork, development documents, and Online mode with Rollback netcode featuring casual matches, lobby matches for friends, ranked matches, and spectator features.

Additionally, "screen flashing" is now reduced on older titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter to be easier on the eyes.
Cyber Akuma is confirmed playable in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. However, guest character Norimaru will not be playable in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 (and PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility), and PC via Steam sometime in 2024. Curiously, this epic compilation was not announced for any Xbox platforms.

With EVO 2024 taking place next month (July 19-21, 2024)... it's certainly possible that Capcom may announce the release date for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection or perhaps even surprise the fighting game community with a "shadow launch" during or immediately following EVO 2024.

The official Steam page for the game is currently live with a Wishlist / Follow option now available. The price and release date has not yet been announced.

Back in June 2022, Capcom released Capcom Fighting Collection — a similar compilation featuring 10 classic games complete with smooth Rollback online and excellent features & options for all playable titles. It's a great example of a classic games compilation done right... so this bodes well for MVC Fighting Collection.

If you're wondering what to expect from MVC Fighting Collection as far as modes, features, and online goes... Capcom Fighting Collection's infrastructure (and smooth online via rollback netcode) is likely very similar to what will appear in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.

Capcom's official site for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection is now online. The official site confirmed additional details, with available ROM versions for each game listed, new details on universal features, character artwork, and videos of each game as it will appear in the compilation. MVC2 uses the "000224" ROM (Naomi arcade version).
