fighting game fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the likes of a Samurai
Shodown, Fatal Fury, Last Blade, or Mark of the Wolves
reboot. While SNK could very well be working on a new fighting game at
this time, they've just announced a new RPG project for smartphones. The
title isn't specified, but the first artwork  / promotional image
claims that the game puts together an "academic story" with
"hero drama" and will launch sometime in 2017. Check out the
first image for the title, below.
   While the 7
characters shown in the artwork appear to be completely new, observant SNK
fans might notice some "similarities" with other SNK characters.
For one, that buff Griffon mask-wearing fellow in the green
most definitely resembles Tizoc from Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

  Tizoc Jr. confirmed!?
  So could there be some
kind of fighting game-inspired tie-ins in this new
RPG by SNK? While fighting game fans are waiting to see which classic
fighting franchise SNK will bring back next, this RPG title might be
something to keep an eye on.
Stay tuned on FightersGeneration.com for future updates
regarding this upcoming mobile RPG by SNK.

              Webmaster Comment:  The
artwork for this game definitely has a Card Fighters Clash
"vibe" about it (which is still one of my favorite
non-fighting titles from SNK, and pretty much my favorite card
game of all time, by the way). Not to go off on too much of a
tangent here, but a dream of mine is for SNK to release an
online-enabled HD remake of the original Card Fighters Clash
(released in 1999 for the Neo Geo Pocket). Even a new SNK VS
Capcom: Match of the Millennium would be amazing to see, when
              the time is right.
Seeing SNK working on a new game in
this "art style" at least gives me some hope that
they haven't forgotten about their classic gems from the Neo Geo
Pocket days. Seeing SNK "branch out" from fighting games
is also a good sign of things to come. SNK stated previously that
they're working on "many new projects" and will have
some announcements to make in 2017.
