Youkai Kusaregedo

BIO:

Kusaregedo was once an ordinary man who lived a regular life with his daughter Hakana. They lived in happiness together for a time and Hakana came to respect her father as a kind man. One day, Kusaregedo obtained an atrocious hunger for human flesh (especially the flesh of children). He now was feared as a cannibal. When it came time for him to die, he was punished for his cannibalism by being transformed into a demon. Kusaregedo was given an even greater hunger for flesh than ever before, thus he came to be known as a fearful being who spread fear and death wherever he went. Hakana weeps for her father's horrid mutation and now tracks down Kusaregedo in an attempt to bring back the man she once cherished. Kusaregedo, in Samurai Spirits 5, is hunting for Rimururu in order to devour her.

NO. JUST NO. Kusaregedo is the stuff of nightmares. A disturbing design in more ways than one. On top of being one of the most horrible-looking fighting game characters of ALL TIME... his voice sounds dumb and his moveset isn't anything special. To top it all off, Kusa's animation is bad too... like that helps anything. As a huge Samurai Shodown fan since the first game, I was beyond turned off when this fat, ugly bastard appeared in SSV. For me, a design like this can turn out to be a huge annoyance and even a game-killer. Bye bye. I'm going to go play something else now. Yeah, Kusaregedo is one of those designs.

As far as "shock value" goes... he's not a total failure as a design? -_- I suppose slicing him in half with pretty much anyone else in the game can be mildly satisfying, so perhaps he is good for something. I guess the devs decided they needed a new "freak" for the series, but they really just should've brought back Gen-An in SS5... that monster at least has personality (and tons of it)! I'm glad SNK was smart enough not to bring back this bastard in Samurai Shodown (2019). But SNK, if you ever do a allow a guest character in a Mortal Kombat game, please DO use Kusaregedo! lol.
