For some reason, Leon was my main in DOA2... I was looking for a character who looked "cool" and wasn't a girl like 90% of the roster (slim pickins' in DOA2). I do like Leon's fighting style in general, but I could never get past how much his outfits completely suck. This flaw would follow him throughout the series. The dude needs a fashion coach, bad. Leon's default outfits are beyond boring, and most of his alternates are downright cringy. On top of that, his personality has always been bland.

However, Leon plays the "badass card" fairly well in DOA, but so many of his moves are sloppily animated. Even in his latest return in DOA5: Ultimate, he throws some of the dumbest-looking punches I've ever seen. A guy who punches like that in a real fight would go down in seconds. Seconds. Leon's "double axe handle" 3-hit string just cracks me up... (it's such a silly / childish way to attack). Leon's kicks also have pretty poor technique. Leon's throws are more interesting, but still use ancient animations in DOA5. His newer throws / holds don't really have the next-gen "oomph" that they should have.
