He's a distinguishable and clever "big guy" design. For one, he really fills up the screen when he's in action - as any fighting game big guy should. It's also sorta ironic that he's so big... being a dwarf and all. Hmm. Overall, Donvalve is fun to use, has original special moves, and nicely balances out his series. Plus he's a dwarf. You don't mess with dwarfs.
