Clive Rosfield is the
main protagonist of Final Fantasy XVI. He is the Archduke of Rosaria's
eldest son, Joshua's brother, and the Dominant of the dark Eikon, Ifrit. Clive
makes his fighting game debut as a guest character in TEKKEN 8.
Despite being the
firstborn, Clive did not inherit the power of the Fire Eikon Phoenix from his
father; the role of its Dominant passed on to the younger Joshua instead. To
find a purpose for himself, Clive became the First Shield of Rosaria, tasked
with protecting Joshua and blessed by the Phoenix, allowing Clive to use part
of its flames. Tragic events involving the dark Eikon, Ifrit, led to Clive
embarking on a quest for revenge.

Yeah... it should've
been Tifa. But I'm actually glad she made
it to SF6 instead. As a Tekken player of 30+ years, I've learned to expect the
unexpected and enjoy sword-users and other unorthodox character designs in Tekken
games. I've actually had many hours of fun learning and fighting against guest
characters Tekken 7 (and now Tekken 8). Similarly to Noctis,
Clive brings the Final Fantasy universe to Tekken once again. On a personal note, I created a popular YouTube video with
Final Fantasy customizations and references over a decade before Noctis
arrived in Tekken. I never imagined years later that so many Final
Fantasy characters would join fighting games.
As far as Clive goes, I gave this
character a chance and he has some cool elements about him. However, his
animations, his install, and all of his visual effects are just "too
much" for Tekken. I think Noctis was more tolerable, more fun to
use, and more fun to watch. I don't hate Clive as a character, but
unfortunately, he doesn't make me want to watch or play T8. Cloud
or Tifa would've been the way to go.
