Believe it or not, 2019 will mark the 20th anniversary of Sega Dreamcast. The Archipel team recently posted a 2-episode documentary on YouTube reflecting on the history of Dreamcast
with 8 of the system's most influential game developers. On Dreamcast's launch day (September 9th, 1999), the console port of Soul Calibur revolutionized console fighting games and was one of the system's all-time greatest hits. At 39:57 in the first video, Hiroaki Yotoriyama talks a little bit about the development of Soul Calibur.
Below, enjoy both episodes of "A Dream Cast"... definitely worth a watch for any nostalgic Dreamcast owner and/or Sega fan.
Full Cast: Hiroshi Iuchi (Ikaruga), Kenji Kanno (Crazy Taxi), Masayoshi Kikuchi (Jet Set Radio), Rieko Kodama (Eternal Arcadia), Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Space Channel 5 / Rez), Tetsu Okano (Segagaga), Yoot Saito (Seaman) & Hiroaki Yotoriyama (Soul Calibur)
For those not old enough to remember, the Sega Dreamcast was the system to have for the best fighting games of the era... bringing home arcade-perfect (or even improved) ports of many iconic arcade fighting games, such as: Soul Calibur, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Street
Fighter Alpha 3, Project Justice, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Power Stone 1 & 2, Mortal Kombat Gold, Capcom Vs. SNK and many others.
