Riot Games Reveals New Project L Gameplay and Details

Two years ago, Riot Games announced they began development on a 2D fighting game based on the League of Legends series. A brand new gameplay trailer for "Project L" (below) shows off their progress and reveals the game will be a 2V2 tag-team fighting game featuring MVC-style assists, simple controls, and a priority on quality netcode utilizing rollback and the company's own existing technology and networking service for minimizing ping (used in League of Legends and Valorant). The 6-minute trailer showcases several of the game's characters, assist attacks, and combo system. In the video, Tony and Tom Cannon of Radiant Entertainment also provide commentary citing their goals and design concepts with Project L. The game has no release window at this time but Riot Games will be sharing more details and gameplay footage in 2022.

Project L is still early in development and the team at Riot Games clarified that a lot of work still has to be done. "Our goal is to build a super high-quality fighting game that the FGC can invest deeply in, playing for years or even decades. That takes time to get right, and we're not going to rush it," said Tom Cannon.

Furthermore, Riot Games is even still hiring talent to work on the game. More information about that can be found on their official site. Stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for future coverage of Project L.
