Retro Gamer #269 - Capcom's Greatest Fighting Games! Interview with Frank from The Fighters Generation

For over two decades, Retro Gamer magazine has built a reputation for its historical and high-quality content, including in-depth articles, interviews with industry veterans, and retrospectives on beloved games and consoles, carving out a niche for itself by focusing on retro video games and the culture surrounding them. Retro Gamer Issue #269 released February 13th, 2025 includes an incredible "special feature" all about Capcom fighting games and their undeniable impact on the growth of the fighting game community titled "Capcom's Greatest Fighting Games".

This issue not only highlights iconic titles such as Street Fighter II, Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Project Justice, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 but also delves into lesser-known gems that have contributed to Capcom's long-running legacy in the fighting game genre. The magazine provides readers with insights into gameplay mechanics, character design, and the cultural impact these games have had over the years.

Additionally, this issue includes an interview with Frank Joseph (@Fighters_Gen) from The Fighters Generation, a well-respected figure in the fighting game community known for his deep knowledge and passion for the genre. His perspectives add valuable context to Capcom's influence on fighting games and their evolution. The first page of Retro Gamer's Capcom feature can be read in its entirety below, which features the interview with TFG's Frank Joseph.

Capcom Brand Manager Matt Edwards (@TheStreetWriter) and Street Fighter story expert Steven Mane also provide their insightful commentary inside Retro Gamer's special feature. The combination of rich historical content and expert commentary makes Retro Gamer Issue #269 a must-read for fighting game fans, old school arcade goers, and retro gaming historians alike.

Honored to have been a part of this! Big thanks to Nick Thorpe from Retro Gamer for the interview and a great phone conversation across the pond. You can pick up Retro Gamer issue #269 physically or digitally at Magazinesdirect.com, Pocketmags.com and other retailers.

In the very near future, I will be releasing a video on my YouTube channel talking about this special feature and further elaborating on how a variety of Capcom fighting games impacted me as an arcade goer in the early 90s... so please stay tuned! Keep it here on The Fighters Generation for more fighting game news and content.
