 The
Game Basement Productions released a fan film based on Capcom's iconic
series, Final Fight... and it's definitely worth a watch. "The
Broken Gear" features UFC and pro-wrestling legend, Don Frye, as
Mayor Mike Haggar... possibly the best casting of all time. The actors who
play Guy and Cody also know a thing or two about how to throw punches and
kicks, making for a very watchable 30-minute martial arts flick.
As a big fan of Final
Fight since my childhood, I was skeptical to watch this (in fear that it would be
terrible), but I have to say... these guys did a great job overall. I can
overlook some of the quirky moments, because the fight scenes are (more
than) solid, and quite a few lines of dialogue (from the heroes) are actually brilliant -
featuring some witty
throwbacks for Capcom fans.
Plus, the story even came together at the end. Solid pacing. Bonus points
for that badass 80's synth soundtrack. *applause* Needless to say... I
seriously hope they're setting things up for a PART 2.
