Capcom
shared some early concept artwork for Street Fighter V: Arcade
Edition's newly released characters, G and Sagat. Capcom's Takayuki
Nakayama notes some of the early developmental ideas for both characters
and shares some interesting fun facts about their early designs.
"World
President" (G)
As
you can see, from the start we planned for him to be the
"World President" (self-declared). Our inspiration was
that of a circus ringmaster. His outfit lost the sleeves because
we wanted to give you a better look at the globe pattern that
circulates around his body.
Bonus:
Pocket Watch
Bonus: Overwhelming Hand
Strength
The
pocket watch that G always carries with him. We ultimately went
with B (the middle design). By the way, did you know that the
buttons on his clothes all have various paintings of the
continents on them?
G likes to shake hands with all the citizens of Earth that he
comes across. He even offers a friendly handshake in the game,
but...
Bonus:
Mysterious Outfit
G
is a character who is surrounded by mystery, but I'd be thrilled
if you're all having fun with him. POWER TO THE EARTH!
SAGAT
At long last, the
king has finally returned (sorry to have kept you waiting...) !
He's a character who already has a lot of unique flavor, so there
wasn't much we could change about him. Here are the design ideas
we had for his clothing.
We
changed his outfit to something reminiscent of old Muy Thai
styles. His body is covered in scars from training and his fights,
so he wears the upper body cloth in order to not frighten the
villagers - the kind considerations of a king.
Sagat's got a pet tiger named Willa Maiu. His official name is
"Phicit Willa Maiu," which means victorious courageous
cat. Sagat found him when he was still a cub. He called him Maiu
for "cat," but before long the cub had grown into a
large, majestic tiger. Continuing to just call him "cat"
didn't feel right, so the kids of the village gave him his full
name.
Both Sagat and G are now
available in SFV: Arcade Edition as DLC. Check out TFG's previous article
