Forest Law

The proud son of Marshall Law, Forest trains at his father's dojo to achieve Law's success and greatness. As a protective father, Marshall has forbidden his son from entering any contests outside the dojo. Marshall's long-time friend and competitor Paul Phoenix visits once every few months to spar with Marshall. One day when Paul arrived, Marshall was away supervising the building of a new dojo. Paul insisted that Forest join him in some training exercises. Forest declined knowing that his father would disapprove. But Paul wouldn't take no for an answer.

Unaware of Marshall's restrictions on fighting, Paul suggested to Forest that he join 'The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3'. Paul sold Forest on the idea by telling him he's a better fighter than his father. Forest knew his father would be angry, but he had to prove that he was worthy of one day inheriting the dojo. Marshall was enraged when he found out what happened. To him, it was as if his son had been kidnapped.

Tekken 3

Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken Advance, Tekken Hybrid

Page Updated:  Sept. 28th, 2022

Like his father, Forest Law is an awesome homage to Bruce Lee... taking his father's place in Tekken 3. He's possibly supposed to represent Brandon Lee, while Law represents Bruce Lee... a very clever move on Namco's part. I never thought they really needed to make an entirely new character in the Tekken storyline, and I think Namco agreed, since Marshall Law returned in Tekken 4, 5 & 6.

Until Tekken Tag 2, there was never much difference between Marshall & Forest, since both designs took turns with the same moveset and evolved it with each sequel. I was glad they brought back Marshall Law in Tekken 4 and after... for some reason I always liked him better. After having a brief cameo in the Rustic Asia stage in Tekken 6, Forest Law finally returned to the ring in Tekken Tag Tournament 2! For the first time ever, father and son are both selectable in the game (complete with awesome tag throws). In TTT2, Forest Law presents a variety of unique animations and a cocky personality... gotta love all his taunts. Namco did a great job bringing Forest Law up to speed., and distinguishing him from his father. (Don't you dare call him a clone.)
