Mortal Kombat: Legacy II

Today, Machinima posted
the entire first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy II on Youtube. Season 1
features 10 episodes, each around 10 minutes long. If you're interested in
seeing a completely new take on the MK universe, grab a drink & some

A second season is also planned for this series which will mark the return of
Liu Kang, Ermac and Kenshi.

Persona 4: The

that wrong. That's actually the name of the upcoming update to Persona 4 Arena...
the arcade version anyway. Coming to Japan arcades in Winter 2013, P4: UUSH
will add Junpei Iori & Yukari Takeba from Persona 3, along with a
brand new character named Sho Minazuki. Check out the brand new trailer!

Today, "old"
Joseph Joestar and Lisa Lisa have hit the Japanese PSN store as DLC for 300 yen
each (about $3.00 USD). The third campaign, "The Ripple Masters" can
also be downloaded. Here's a brand new trailer
from Namco showing Joseph & Lisa in gameplay for the first time. The trailer

Project EF-12: a
Free 3D Fighting Game Engine

Project EF-12 was
unveiled over the weekend in TGS 2013's Indie Game section. Similar to M.U.G.E.N,
Project EF-12 is a free, fully customizable 3D fighting game engine which
takes its inspiration from the likes of Tekken, Virtua Fighter
& Soul Calibur. Users can edit pretty much everything, including
characters & their moves, stages, and the appearance of the HUD. Hit the

Tekken
Revolution 1.02 Update Now Available

The free 407 MB Tekken
Revolution update hit PSN in North America today. To recap, this update
adds Feng, Nina, Miguel and Kuma to the roster along with several new stages.
Also, the new Character
Unlock Pass is now available for purchase (along with new premium effects &
alternate costumes), and the rank cap has been raised to Byakko (21 dan).

"enough" Japanese fighting games on the market featuring girls in
skirts battling each other with swords... good old Sega would be the first to
disagree!
At TGS '13, Sega announced Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, a new 2D
fighting franchise featuring characters from the Dengeki Bunko light novel
publishing label. Also revealed at TGS were some screenshots, artwork, and a short
gameplay clip.

The manga based on the
legendary Street Fighter player, Daigo "The Beast" Umehara,
went on sale last Friday in Japan. To Live is to Game
starts in Daigo's middle school years, leading up to when he won the Japanese
National Tournament. Street Fighter II was the main game of this
period, and many memorable gameplay scenes from SFII (and 3rd Strike)
cleverly make an appearance. Here are the first 40

A new scan
from Fmaitsu magazine reveals the official Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- artwork
for Axl Low and I-No. The return of these two Guilty Gear veterans was
confirmed last week, as they both appear briefly in the most recent trailer.
Also revealed in the Famitsu article is that Axl and I-No will be playable at GGXrd's
location test this coming November.

Revolution "Update 1.2" Alt. Costumes Trailer

As you may know, this
month's free update to Tekken Revolution will be adding some new
alternate costumes (paid DLC) in addition to the 4 new characters (Nina, Feng,
Miguel & Kuma). Namco Bandai EU released a new Tekken Revolution trailer
showing off some of these new costumes in action. "Update 1.2" is
currently available in Europe and will arrive on September 24th in North
America.

Calibur Title Coming to PS3

from the latest Famitsu magazine confirms a new Soul Calibur title in
development for Playstation 3 called Soul Calibur: Lost Swords, a name
which Namco Bandai trademarked back in July. Besides being
"free-to-play" like Tekken
Revolution, no further details have been given. Knowing Namco, it won't take

Arc System Works unveiled
a new Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- trailer during Sony's recent Japan press
conference. Just over a minute long, the new trailer
confirms the return of Axl Low and I-no. Arc System Works' Takeshi Yamanaka also
confirmed both Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions of the game via Twitter.
While no specific release dates were given, GGXrd -SIGN- is scheduled for
a Spring 2014 arcade release.

their "week 1" sales numbers for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star
Battle. The game has already sold 425,718 units in Japan, making it the

Double Helix producer Michael Willette to talk alternate character colors in Killer

fighting game, Under Night In-Birth, hit Japanese arcades today. The
"Exe: Late" upgrade adds Chaos as a playable character. It was
also just revealed that Exe: Late will include an additional guest
character, Akatsuki, from Akatsuki Blitzkampf (an obscure doujin fighting

Since the release of
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle last week, several combo
videos have been popping up online. Some infinite combos and bugs have also
been found, but CyberConnect2 announced that an upcoming patch (coming Sept.
10th) will fix these. The developers also announced that due to the great sales
of the game, the DLC character, Pannacotta Fuugo, will be released on Sept. 12th
for free.

72-minute "I Am Street Fighter" documentary
on the official Street Fighter Youtube channel. This documentary was

Rumor: Tekken 7
on Namco's New Arcade Board

In the past, Namco has
developed new installments to Tekken using arcade boards based on the
latest Playstation hardware. For example, Tekken 5 was developed for
Namco Arcade System 256, and TTT2
for System 369. Japanese site, inatekken,
suggested that Namco is developing a new arcade board (System 478) possibly
based on PS4 hardware. According to the rumor, Tekken 7 is one of the
games planned to debut on the hardware.

Chinese developer,
Tencent Games is working on "beat-em-up" version of Xuan Dou Zhi
Wang to be released on mobile devices. They didn't announce it themselves,
but a video trailer for the game has popped up online. Judging from the trailer,
Xuan Dou Zhi Wang "Mobile Edition" appears to have 4 selectable
fighters to start with, those being: Yan, Ell Blue, Brazel and Claire
Fox.

MOBA Game in The Works

Remember that
"KOF Online" RPG game a few years ago that got canceled? Well, it
looks like an RPG-like King of Fighters title will actually see the light
of day. The South Korean-based developer, Dragonfly is working on new MOBA
(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game based on KOF. The beta version of

Killer
Instinct Free Version Character Rotation

It was reported a while
back that a free-to-play version Killer Instinct for Xbox One will be
available for download. This version will feature Jago to start with, and additional
characters can be purchased individually ($4.99 each) and in a variety of DLC
packs. In a recent interview with Eurogamer,
Ken Lobb revealed that KI will introduce a free character rotation system,
giving new players a new character to try out every few months or so.

Gametrailers released a Chief Thunder combo trailer (which strangely was taken
offline shortly afterwards). The end of the trailer teased a brand new character
for the game, whom is currently unnamed. The new female character has a

announced DOA5: Ultimate will have a total of 231 unlockable
costumes, doubling the amount from the prequel.
Tecmo also confirmed 2 VS 2 online tag mode, enabling co-op gameplay
against other teams (similar to TTT2's online Pair Play feature). In
addition, a new character points system will debut (similar to SF4's
battle points system) and is designed to show a player's skill level with each
character.

Fighter Within for Xbox One

revealed a new motion controlled fighter called The Fighter Within for
the Xbox One. Powered by Kinect 2, the game is said to have "unprecedented

Art Creation Process on Capcom Blog

Capcom's Saikyo
Blog released some interesting images showing the step-by-step process in
creating Elena's Ultra Street Fighter IV artwork. Producer Tomoaki Ayano
explains that the team started with 3 main sketches of Elena before choosing the
final pose to be made into the official version. I would guess (hope) they'll be
doing this for all 4 of the returning SFXT characters coming to Ultra
SF4... so stay tuned.

XIII Steam Edition to Feature Balance Changes

The upcoming "Steam
Edition" of King of Fighters XIII will come with the balance
changes that appear in the latest arcade build of the game, KOF XIII: Climax.
In addition, the user interface, menus & configurations will be based on the
Xbox 360 version. KOF XIII: Steam Edition will also feature some graphics
& performance options to cater to players lower performance PCs, including
"Static" and "Dynamic" background options.

Last December, the 2011
arcade 2D fighting game Chaos Code by Taiwanese developers FK Digital was
released on PSN in several Asia regions. Arc System Works has helped FK Digital
get Chaos Code to North America, and the company just confirmed that the
game will be released soon on Playstation Network! Early reports also say Chaos
Code will be priced at a very affordable $12. Those looking for a fresh 2D

Dou Zhi Wang (AKA King of Combat) released in English. Their goal is

Building 1 in Tokyo, Japan. Cam footage of the game has been popping up on Youtube

upcoming anime adaptation of Blazblue was just released. The trailer
opens with cinematics from the games in order, starting with Calamity Trigger
and ending with ChronoPhantasma. This suggests that the anime will

Alexandra will be crossing over to Tecmo Koei's upcoming hack and slash

System Works announced they will be releasing an official arcade stick
this October to celebrate their 25th anniversary. This PS3 stick
features Sanwa parts and 3 interchangeable faceplates. In

interviewed Minoru Kidooka, the president of Arc System Works. Kidooka stated
that the company will be focused on Blazblue throughout Fall, and
mentioned that hopefully they will "keep the energy going for the new Guilty
Gear next year." GGXrd is rumored to be a next gen title, so a
2014 release seems possible. In addition, Aksys announced the first location
test for GGXrd, which will be held in Tokyo Aug. 9th-12th.

Capcom's new fighting
game manager, Matt Dahlgren, recently revealed to Siliconera
that "Darkstalkers Resurrection didn't perform as well as we would have
liked." and "There is
nothing Darkstalkers on the immediate horizon for sure." Sad news for
any DS fan, but not surprising news out of Capcom these days. To all Darkstalkers
fans, I say stay positive... Darkstalkers has a better chance of a revival than some
other "dead" franchises out there.

Capcom just uploaded the
second trailer for Ultra
Street Fighter IV. Trailer #2 begins with a montage of past SF4 tournaments
followed by some player commentary. Near the end, some new footage of the 4 new
characters is also shown. In addition, Gamespot uploaded 40-minutes of footage
from Capcom's Street Fighter panel
at SDCC '13. At the panel, Capcom talks about new merchandise, Ultra SF4,

posted the full results of the Tekken Revolution "new character
concept" poll on Facebook,
so you can see where each of the designs ranked in the voting. In addition, he

remake of Soul Calibur 2 was announced today at the Namco Bandai panel at
SDCC '13! The remake is based on the PS2 version and will include the PS2 guest
character, Heihachi Mishima. Soul Calibur 2 HD Online will be released

As promised, Tekken
producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed concept sketches
for the leading characters of the Tekken Revolution poll
at SDCC '13. Receiving the most votes was the "Female Vampire" (A
young female vampire that has been imprisoned in a wing of the Rochefort Estate,
where Lili was raised). This character (and others) are set to be added to Tekken

Back in April, it was
reported that Terry and Benimaru will be crossing over to the Chinese fighting
game by Tencent Games, Xuan Dou Zhi Wang. Today, we get to see the the
first in-game video
footage of Terry and Benimaru in the game! Their XDZW incarnations closely
resemble their KOF XIII sprites, but are animated differently and have a
more "3D" appearance. In short, I'd say they look pretty awesome in
the game!

Fighter IV Turns 5 Years Old Today

Believe it or not, today
is Street Fighter IV's fifth birthday. The original SF4 arcade
cabinet hit Japanese arcades on July 18th, 2008. There's no doubt SF4 was
one of the most impactful fighting games of this era, spawning a lasting
resurgence in the genre since its arrival. With the third full sequel (Ultra
SF4) announced just last weekend, it would appear the SF4 series
still has some fight left.

The latest magazine
reports have given some new details on Blazblue: ChronoPhantasma's Online
Mode. Among the new features include a 64 player, text chat enabled lobby.
Players can fight CPU opponents while waiting for online opponents. In addition,
players can use chibi-style characters to login to various cities within the Blazblue
world. There will also be a fully voiced "Teach Me, Miss Litchi!" feature. (Source:

Double Helix debuted a
new Killer Instinct trailer
at EVO '13, which begins with a new Glacius gameplay montage. After some flashy
combos by Glacius, the trailer also reveals the "Counter Breaker"
system, which is basically a Combo Breaker counter. At the end of the trailer, a
5-second teaser showing a tomahawk all but confirms the return of Chief Thunder.

Coming to North American PSN This Week

Last September, Capcom
VS SNK 2 was released on the Japanese Playstation as a "PS2
Classic". Finally, the hit cross-over fighting game is headed to PSN in
North America this week, according to PSNStores.com.
Since this is a PS2 Classic, don't expect online mode, trophies, or fancy new
features. It's simply a port of the PS2 version (still a great package). CVS2
hits PSN this Tuesday, July 16th for $9.99.

Lab Zero Games has
announced on Twitter
that the PC version of Skullgirls will arrive on August 22nd, with
pre-orders becoming available on August 1st via Steam. Lab Zero also revealed

got an official release date. Iron Galaxy announced that Divekick will be
available on PS3 and PSVita on August 20th for the low price of $9.99, with

To kick off the weekend
of EVO '13 announcements, Gametrailers just posted a video
walkthrough showing off the first solid footage of Glacius in the new Killer
Instinct! Like Jago and Sabrewulf, Glacius has an entirely new appearance,
and also a brand new play style from the looks of it. The video also takes place
on Glacius's new stage, shown for the first time. Stay tuned for more KI3 footage from the EVO floor, along with other announcements!

Tekken
Revolution Original Character Poll

This morning, Tekken
producer Katsuhiro Harada announced an "Original Character Poll" for
Tekken Revolution on TwitLonger.
Due to the success of Tekken Revolution, the team is planning to add
brand new characters to the game which fans can vote on! A concept of the
character will be chosen at the Fighting Panel at SDCC on July 19th. Here's the link

Revolution Adds New Fighters, Practice Mode

The official Tekken
Revolution website just revealed details and images
for an upcoming free update on July 16th. The big updates include the addition
of Hwoarang & Dragunov, "Warm-Up Space" Practice Mode, and a
Playstation Store option on the main menu that allows players to purchase
Alternate Costumes, Premium Effects, "Reset Drinks" (allows resetting

Instinct (2013) - Behind The Scenes Video

Gametrailers posted a
13-minute "behind the scenes" video
documentary on Killer Instinct (2013), silently revealing two noteworthy
updates to the game - more blood and (possibly) Tag-Team Mode! In the video,
various members of Double Helix Games take turns talking about the project, the
team, and their history with fighting games. It's definitely worth a watch to

Tecmo Koei recently
revealed some images
for a Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate "special edition," currently
set for release in Japan. There are 3 different editions planned, including the
Kasumi-chan Blue Complete Package and Momiji Red Complete Package editions, both
priced at 16,590 yen. Both special editions include items such as: a
"3d" (boobs) mousepad, bath poster, playing cards, sexy costume DLC,
life-sized poster...

- Big Band In-Game First Look

Lab Zero Games recently
uploaded some early "work-in-progress" gameplay footage of Big Band,
the next Skullgirls DLC character planned after Squigly. While the sprite
isn't colored or fully animated, you can get a good idea of how "big"
Big Band is in the game, and also take a first look at some of his
animations.

EVO '13: Nintendo
Reverses Decision on SSBM Stream

Evolution 2013
hasn't even started yet and the drama is already making noise around the gaming
community.
Earlier today, it was reported that Nintendo of America would not allow Super
Smash Bros. Melee to be streamed at this year's EVO. However, SRK
just announced tonight that Nintendo has reversed their decision and SSBM
will be streamed this weekend at EVO... A smart move by Nintendo (the second
one, anyway).

EVO '13 Stream Schedule
Change, Injustice Reveal

Shoryuken.com recently
announced their stream
schedule for this weekend's EVO '13. The stream included Super Smash
Bros. Melee, the 8th game voted in from SRK's breast cancer donation drive,
raising over $90K. Sadly, today Nintendo of America informed SRK that they can't
stream SSBM due to legal reasons, resulting in a schedule
change. In other EVO news, Ed Boon just confirmed a 5th DLC character for Injustice
will be shown this weekend.

Ultimate Coming to Japanese Arcades in Winter

Today, Tecmo Koei
announced that an arcade version of Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate will be
coming to Japan this Winter. This marks the series return to arcades for the
first time in 13 years. DOA5: Ultimate arcade will use SEGA's "ALL.Net
P-ras MULTI Ver.2" content distribution system. The PS3 & 360 versions
of the game are set to be released September 3rd in North America as both a
physical and digital game.

down with Blazblue: ChronoPhantasma producer, Toshimichi
Mori. In the interview,
Mori-san talks about the new characters - particularly their movesets and how
they fit into the storyline. He also gives his thoughts on the trend of "freemium"
fighting games and talks briefly about the visual novel, XBlaze:

Instinct (2013) Community Feedback Chart

Double Helix Games, the
developers of the new Killer Instinct title for Xbox One, recently
released a community feedback chart
which shows the most popular requests for the new KI. Among the highest
ranked, are: Returning Rooftop Finishers, Classic Skins, Darker Announcer,
Ultimates, More Blood, No Mercies, and Classic Soundtracks. As a fan of the
original KI since 1994, I'd definitely like to see all of the

Mortal Kombat Legacy Season
2 Fight Scene Clip

Director Kevin Tancharoen
unveiled a new video clip
from season 2 of the upcoming web series, Mortal Kombat Legacy. Debuting
on the 24-hour Machinima Birthday stream, the 2-minute clip is a fight scene
featuring Sub-Zero VS Scorpion. After the clip, the director talks more about
what we can expect from season 2, mentioning there will be more fight scenes and
recreated fatalities this time around.

- Patch v1.05, General Zod Now Available

General Zod, latest DLC
character for Injustice: Gods Among Us, can now be purchased on PSN &
XBL. Zod is released alongside patch v1.05, which brings various character
changes (including Scorpion nerfs). In addition, a free classic costume for Ares
was released along with several purchasable DLC costume packs, including:
Blackest Night #2, Earth 2, New 52, and the Man of Steel Superman
alternate skin.

Tekken
Revolution Update to Celebrate 1m Downloads

To celebrate Tekken
Revolution's 1 million downloads, Katsuhiro Harada announced an update to
the game today via Twitter.
He confirmed that Jin Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu have joined the Tekken Revolution roster!
Starting today, the new characters can be unlocked with Gift Points. In addition, a new online event where players can earn bonus Fight Money, Gift
Points and EXP will be going on this week.
