Combo
Breaker 2022 Registration Closes with 1000+ Guilty Gear -STRIVE-
Participants
|
|
Coming
up in about two weeks on May 27th-29th (Memorial Day
Weekend), Combo Breaker 2022 will host thousands of fighting game
players at one of the largest live events of the year. Tournament
organizer Rick "TheHadou" Thiher announced player registration
has closed and revealed the final number of competitors for each of
the tournament games. Guilty
Gear -STRIVE-, The
King of Fighters XV, and TEKKEN
7 take the lead as the TOP 3 most popular games of the
tournament, with 1061, 621, and 560 players
respectively. (A special recognition and shoutout to TEKKEN 7 for
being a 7-year-old game and retaining such a strong player
base. It really says something about the game and competitive community.
Can you imagine TEKKEN 8's numbers?)
On
Twitter this week, Rick Thiher (also the new
GM of Evolution Championship Series) mentioned that Guilty Gear
STRIVE's record-breaking number of over 1000 players at the 2022
event exceeds the total number of participants across all games back at
Combo Breaker 2015. Impressive!
|
It was announced last
month that Combo Breaker 2022 will also provide attendees a chance to try
out Capcom
Fighting Collection before its release next month on June 24th, 2022.
Attendees will be able to play the compilation of 10 Capcom classics at the
official Capcom booth in CB2022's
vendor village. Attendees of the event even score a CFC-themed hand
sanitizer as a free gift at their badge pick-up. Nice!
