Chinatown Fair Arcade Documentary

Red Bull Gaming recently uploaded a short (but sweet) video documentary on the history of the iconic Chinatown Fair arcade.
Like many other popular arcades across the country, New York's Chinatown Fair was a meeting place and battleground for many old school members of the FGC. The video doc features commentary by several FGC veterans from the East Coast, including: Hoa "Anakin" Luu, Arturo "Sabin" Sanchez, Chris "Kreymore" Landon, Josh "Nerdjosh"
Jodoin, and Joe "Long Island Joe" Ciaramelli. Watch the 11-minute video documentary below, and continue scrolling down for some additional fun facts about NYC Chinatown Fair along with some photos.

Chinatown Fair originally opened in 1944, operating as a penny arcade and small museum for many decades. In the 1970's, it officially became a video game arcade. After decades of being in operation, the arcade unfortunately closed in February 2011, but reopened in May 2012 under different management.

Also from the East Coast, I was frequent to at least 10 popular arcades across Florida, all with vibrant and passionate communities of fighting game players (who don't get talked about or recognized very often). I have family in New York, so I frequently traveled there as well (but didn't get to experience much of the FGC scene there, unfortunately).
Back in 2017, my wife and I took a trip to NY to visit family and plan our wedding for 2018. One day we took the train to NYC, and I was pleasantly surprised to see this legendary arcade still open (and pretty crowded)! I was also surprised to see they had a working arcade cabinet of TEKKEN Tag Tournament 2: Unlimited. (Of
course I played a few rounds.) Red Bull Gaming's documentary brought back good memories so I thought I'd share these photos with you guys. More photos from my trip are posted on Patreon.
