IGN Interview with Katsuhiro
Harada and Michael Murray Showcases New TEKKEN
8 Gameplay

|
 IGN's
Summer of Gaming series has returned for its fourth year this June,
featuring interviews with game developers and exclusive reveals. Some of
the first to appear in IGN's 2023 feature are none other than Katsuhiro
Harada and Michael Murray, who brought brand new gameplay footage and
details on TEKKEN
8.
In the video interview, IGN's Akeem Lawanson asks the producers about
TEKKEN 8 development and recent changes made to the Heat system. The
new footage shown reveals the first raw gameplay of characters like Bryan
Fury, Asuka
Kazama, Leroy
Smith, and Lili
Rochefort.
The new build of TEKKEN 8 shown in IGN's video interview has some
noticeable changes over the earlier version of the game. For one, the Heat
Gauge has been removed and minimized onscreen to streamline the visual
aesthetic of the new mechanic and make it easier for players and
spectators to understand. Murray also talks about how defense and offense
play such a huge role in 3D fighting games.
During the interview, Michael Murray also
talks a little bit about the
history of past TEKKEN releases. Murray recaps how TEKKEN originated
as a fighting game series first releasing in arcades and later ported to
consoles (a format which remained in use for decades),
with fans outside of Asia having to wait years before having
access to the game.

Network Test was announced last week which takes place in late July

TEKKEN
8 is slated to be released sometime in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox
