EVO 2022 Announcement Show Airs March 8th

The official Twitter account for Evolution Championship Series revealed that an EVO 2022 announcement show will be airing Tuesday, March 8th (5pm PST) on Twitch. The announcement (of the announcement) also confirmed that Super Smash Bros. games will not be returning to EVO this year. "Since 2007, we've seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at Evo's events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year. In the future, we hope to once again celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community alongside them," the message reads.

It's possible and likely Nintendo's decision to withdraw from EVO going forward has something to do with Sony's recent acquisition of the brand. The EVO 2022 games lineup will be revealed on March 8th at twitch.tv/evo. E
VO returns to Las Vegas, Nevada on August 5th-7th, 2022.

In related fighting game tournament news, Combo Breaker and CEO 2022 were officially announced earlier this year. Registration for both upcoming tournaments is now live.
