Younger sister
to Nina Williams, Anna is a highly skilled
fighter. She utilizes a style of "assassination martial arts" which
are based in Aikido. While Anna rivals her sister,
she still cares for her a great deal (even though she probably wouldn't admit
it). In the second King of Iron Fist tournament, Nina was hired to assassinate
the sponsor of the tournament, Kazuya
Mishima. Whether at Kazuya's discretion or Anna's own volition, Anna became
a bodyguard for Kazuya. It is likely that Anna's intervention prevented her
sister from carrying out her contract, and Nina was later captured by Mishima
Zaibatsu forces and used in Doctor
Boskonovitch's cryonics ('cold-sleep') research. Learning about this, Anna
volunteered to be another test subject, requesting that she be woken in the
future at the same time as Nina. Her reasons for doing so remain ambiguous,
though the game suggests that Anna would have felt lonely without Nina and/or
jealous at the thought of her sister's youth being preserved.
After being placed in suspended animation during the second King of Iron Fist Tournament, Nina was awoken 19 years later by the influence
of the recently excavated Ogre, who compelled her to assassinate
Jin Kazama.
As per her request, Anna was awoken at the same time as her sister, though
she was unaffected by Ogre's influence. Nina also began to suffer ill effects
from the 'cold-sleep', resulting in long term memory loss. In an act of
compassion, Anna set out to stop Nina from once again becoming an assassin,
and to help her recover her past.
Nina decides to make
contact with Anna in hopes of restoring her memory. Unfortunately, their
meeting serves only to trigger Nina's lost feelings of hostility towards
her sister, and she immediately opens fire. Anna retaliates, and the reunion
descends into a gunfight which lasts for days. The sisters eventually reach
a stalemate and agree to settle things for good at The King of Iron Fist
Tournament 5.
After the humiliating
defeat from her older sister and enemy, Nina Williams... Anna sought revenge.
She didn't want it to end this way. Nina though, has already gone into
hiding. Hearing rumors that Nina Williams has joined forces with the new
Mishima Zaibatsu, Anna Williams decided to join forces with G Corporation.

Even though Anna
has been a staple of Tekken since the beginning, I think she's still one of the "sleeper" characters of
the series. She is originally a
"clone design" of Nina, so it took her a while to develop into her own style. She was always known for her sexy taunts & mannerisms, but
it wasn't until Tekken 5 where she acquired a very different moveset from her
sister. Since then, she's acquired many unique
moves & animations, distinguishing her on the roster.
Anna doesn't necessarily
represent a specific martial art, like other characters from Tekken.
However, she is known for fighting dirty... which defines her fighting
style as a whole, right along with her brutal throw techniques. Indeed, some of her throws and taunts make her personality stand out! >;) While easily recognizable,
her default outfit became slightly redundant over the years. Thankfully, Namco created a slew of EPIC alternate costumes for Anna, all of them superbly entertaining. (Don't miss the concept art either!) On a side note, I created a badass "classy goth" version of Anna in Tekken 6 (black dress customization). It was such a good custom, it
should've been an official costume. ;) Ironically, her TEKKEN 7 "goth" look felt like a spiritual successor to that custom. Thanks Namco.
