Street Fighter 6 Ryu Arcade Mode Art by Bengus

We're back from the holiday break! With 2023 nearly upon us and Street Fighter 6 launching only 6 months from now (on June 2nd, 2023), more and more official illustrations from the game's various modes have been surfacing online. On Twitter, Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama shared an official artwork by Bengus for Ryu's Street Fighter 6 Arcade mode playthrough. We saw an early version of this "SFA3 art style-inspired" illustration back in November, but the complete version reveals more characters associated with Ryu's history and SF6 storyline — including a rare appearance by SF1's Retsu. (Worth noting is that Retsu also appears in the background on one of Street Fighter 6's battle stages.)

Director Nakayama noted in his tweet that this Bengus artwork was first revealed at the recent Osaka Street Fighter 35th Anniversary exhibition which was held from November 18th - December 25th, 2022.

Other artists such as Hiroaki Hashimoto and Tamio have also done several official illustrations for Street Fighter 6 arcade and story modes. See last month's article for another look at the previously-revealed illustrations, including the early condensed version of the above Bengus art.
