TEKKEN 8 Wins Best Fighting Game at TGA 2024, Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI Joins Roster Dec. 16

During tonight's The Game Awards 2024, the first category announced at the opening of the pre-show was none other than "Best Fighting Game 2024" — with TEKKEN 8 reigning supreme and receiving the most votes from fans, beating out Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and 3 other games. After accepting the award for "Best Fighting Game of 2024," Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray told fans at The Game Awards to stay tuned for an announcement. Later on in the show, Clive Rosfield, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XVI, was revealed as TEKKEN 8's first guest character. Clive joins the game next week on December 16th. After an initial teaser broadcasted live during TGA '24, Bandai Namco shared Clive's full-length Gameplay Trailer.

Clive's trailer shows off his flashy sword and magic-based fighting style, including a demonstration of his fiery Rage Art which features an iconic summon monster from the Final Fantasy series, Ifrit. Clive can summon a variety of weapons and monsters to fight alongside him. Similarly to Noctis in TEKKEN 7, Clive brings his own Final Fantasy XVI-themed battle stage — Phoenix Gate— to TEKKEN 8. Nothing but beautiful fan service for Final Fantasy and TEKKEN players, alike!

To celebrate new playable character Clive Rosfield arriving next week on December 16th, the TEKKEN 8 in-game shop has been updated with new "Final Fantasy XVI × TEKKEN 8" collaboration items, including: universal Final Fantasy-themed customization items for all characters, Final Fantasy monster "Bomb" King for use with TEKKEN Ball mode, Final Fantasy avatar items, and more. The collaboration also rewards TEKKEN 8 players with 500 TEKKEN coins to spend in the shop.

Clive joins Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska and Heihachi Mishima in TEKKEN 8's first playable character year 1 pass DLC. Clive Rosfield becomes playable December 16th, 2024. Stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for updates to this story and continued coverage.
