EVO 2020 Online Announcement Trailer

After being officially canceled due to COVID-19 at the beginning of this month, EVO 2020, the largest fighting game tournament in the world, has pivoted to an online format. EVO Online will span five weekends starting in the first month of July 2020. The announce trailer confirms most of the original EVO '20 games lineup will appear, including: TEKKEN 7, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, SoulCalibur VI, Samurai Shodown, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[c-lr]. However, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate has been removed due to its infamously poor netcode.

[UPDATE] EVO Online 2020 has been cancelled due to serious allegations made against EVO event organizer, Joey Cuellar.

Replacing Smash Ultimate... newly announced "open" tournaments for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Killer Instinct (2013), Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, and Them’s Fightin’ Herds have been added to the event. Watch the official EVO Online 2020 announcement trailer, below.

It's unclear if an online MvC2 tournament will take place. However, because "Tournament of Champions" is still listed for EVO Online, it's highly likely MvC2 will appear during EVO Online in some form (also to celebrate the game's 20 year anniversary). It's also likely to safely assume we'll also be getting some great fighting game announcements during EVO Online.

EVO Online 2020 will take place on the following weekends:
  •
  • July 4th - July 5th

  • July 11th - July 12th

  • July 18th - July 19th

  • July 25th - July 26th

  • July 31st - August 2nd
