BIO:

King is a skilled Muay Thai fighter who became famous after defeating a famous Muay Thai champion. For several years, King portrayed herself as a man... first because she wanted to hide her identity to avoid the dangers of Southtown, and also because she thought people would take her more seriously as a fighter. Five years before the events of Art of Fighting, King suffered a humiliating defeat by Jack Turner and his biker gang. After the event, she was forced to work for Mr. Big as a bouncer. When Ryo Sakazaki defeated her, her identity was exposed and she agreed to help him find his missing sister, Yuri. After Mr. Big was defeated by Ryo, King was freed of her obligations to him.

During Art of Fighting 2, she continued her passion for street fighting until her younger brother, Jan, needed an operation to regain the use of his legs. She entered the King of Fighters tournament hoping to win the prize money to pay for the operation. At the end of the tournament, she was surprised to see Jan walking on his own two feet. It was revealed that Ryo and Robert paid for the operation in gratitude for her help with finding Yuri. She remained good friends with Ryo for many years after, even all the way up to the Buriki One timeline.

In the King of Fighters series, King was a consistent member of the Womens Team, her original teammates being Mai Shiranui and Yuri. Sometime during KOF, she opened up her own bar in England called the Illusion, and hired two waitresses named Sally and Elizabeth. She later opened up a bar in Southtown. In King of Fighters 2000, Yuri begged her to be her replacement and King accepted. Robert Garcia doubted her credibility and challenged her to a kicking contest. After the contest came to a draw, Robert accepted her. During The King of Fighters XI it was revealed that King possibly has deeper feelings for Ryo than "just friends."

King is a nice break from the somewhat monotonous Muay Thai characters that we've become so well-accustomed to in fighting games. She's one of the most stylish SNK females out there and also has a pretty unique personality & fighting style. When I first saw King in the original AOF (back in 1992), I thought she was a dude for sure... her name and her original sprite was definitely on the masculine side of things. After defeating her and seeing her top rip off (years later on a different cabinet), I was shocked! Props to SNK for the epic shock value in the 90s! lol.

King is a fun character to use in many games. My favorite appearance of hers is her Capcom VS SNK rendition... she looked and played pretty awesome in CVS. Capcom's 2D sprite and animations for King were definitely the best to date, by far (until KOF XIII at least). That said, I'm definitely looking forward to trying her out in KOF XIII.
