Before you get overly excited... it's not a fighting game, unfortunately. However, Guilty Gear characters are on the way to the mobile RPG title, KOF '98: Ultimate Match Online, marking the first ever
crossover for these two iconic series.
Sol-Badguy, Ky Kiske, Baiken, and Dizzy are confirmed as playable characters — complete
with 2D sprites in the game, and are visually based on their GGXrd REV2 iterations.

Bandai Namco shared a new batch of screenshots to get fans even more hype for Kunimitsu II arriving in TEKKEN 7 Season 4. In addition to her new attire, the daughter of the original Kunimitsu will have her mother's TEKKEN Tag 2
costume available to her in T7. If you're familiar with T7's customization,
you'll know that you can separate each costume part in Customize mode for use individually - which can make for some nicely aesthetic combinations.

KOF 2002: UM Rollback Netcode Beta Test Begins in October

A fan-favorite installment of The King of Fighters is getting a
rollback netcode upgrade on Steam courtesy of Code Mystics —
the same team behind the rollback update for Garou: Mark of the Wolves. On Twitter, SNK announced an open community beta test for the Steam version of The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match. The open beta will begin this Thursday, October 1st and will be live for two full weeks, ending October 15th.

During Sega's Tokyo Game Show 2020 presentation, a
teaser trailer titled "Virtua Fighter x eSports" was shown. The beginning of the trailer highlights footage from past Virtua Fighter pro competitions in Japan. More interestingly... the end of the trailer reveals a highly detailed (and assumedly new) 3D model of VF
icon, Akira Yuki. This is indeed the closest thing to a "VF6 teaser" or hint at a "VF Reboot" that we've ever seen from Sega.

Samurai Shodown (2019) Coming to Xbox Series X

During day 1 of the Tokyo Game Show 2020, Microsoft
announced SNK's latest fighting game, Samurai Shodown (2019), will be coming to Xbox Series X and the digital-only version of Microsoft's next-gen console, Xbox Series S. No release date or further details were provided during the announcement. As reported back in August of this year, Season 3
of Samurai Shodown is now in development.

Following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) who passed away last Friday after a 4-year battle with Colon Cancer, we lost another Marvel legend this week. Canadian actor, Norm Spencer, known for voicing Cyclops in X-Men: The Animated Series and the Marvel Vs. games,
has passed away. We learned of his passing after Cathal J. Dodd (the voice of Wolverine) posted a
tribute to the actor on social media.

Sony announced Street Fighter V will be included as part of the PlayStation Plus monthly games lineup for September 2020. SFV will be available to download from September 1st until October 5th. Additionally, Sony announced SFV
online tournaments on PS4 which will begin next
week for players in the U.S. and Canada. Winners of the monthly finals could win a share of the $1,000 prize pool, in addition to "unique prizes unavailable anywhere else".

Today, Bandai Namco shared some beautiful new
concept illustrations for Setsuka's new appearance in SoulCalibur VI. In addition to the new images, the dev team provided captions detailing some of the inspirations behind Setsuka's costume design. Her final costume design was meant to resemble "a blend of Japanese and Western style female fencer."
The haori, a memento of her master, was also an important element in her design.

Yoshinori Ono has been a producer of the Street Fighter franchise since 1998, originally a lead member of the Sound team for titles such as SFA3 and SFIII: 3rd Strike. Ono-san moved on to being lead producer of Capcom Fighting Jam, Street Fighter IV (series), SF x
TEKKEN, MVC: Infinite, and Street Fighter V. Over the weekend, Ono-san announced on Twitter that he is
leaving Capcom "this Summer".

During the Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable stream, Bandai Namco announced official "
Online Challenge" events for TEKKEN 7 and SoulCalibur VI. There are a total of 11 official online competitions announced TEKKEN 7, the first "pre-event" for North America kicking off in just two weeks on August 15th-16th (registration is open). The
SoulCalibur World Tour website has 3 official tournaments listed so far, taking place in October and November.

Today, Sega unveiled an upcoming miniature version of their iconic Astro City arcade cabinet hardware (first released in 1993). The
Astro City Mini features a fighting game-friendly 6-button setup, joystick, USB, HDMI, and will be fully loaded with 36 classic titles, including the first Virtua Fighter.
