UFC Fighter Joaquin Buckley Pulls Off Incredible K.O. Kick Reminiscent of TEKKEN's Lee Chaolan

"That move wouldn't work in real life." ... "That kick isn't humanly possible." (Someone tell that guy to shut it.) Over the weekend, UFC middleweight Joaquin Buckley delivered one of the most impressive knockouts in MMA history. In the second round of what had been a mostly even contest, Impa Kasanganay caught Buckley's roundhouse kick to the body. Buckley answered with a spinning kick to the head while balancing on his other leg... Lee Chaolan style.

Karin Kanzaki Gets Hokuto Costume in SFV: Champion Edition

The "Capcom x Arika" collaboration continues in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition... Following Ryu's Kairi-inspired costume added to the game back in September, Capcom heroine Karin Kanzaki will now have a costume based on Hokuto from her most recent appearance in Fighting EX LayerSFV players will be able to unlock this costume for Karin starting tomorrow, October 13th, 2020. Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Deluxe & Ultimate Edition Details, Season Pass 1 / Release Date Info

As we reported yesterday, Guilty Gear -STRIVE- will release worldwide in April 2021 on PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam. Those who pick up either the Deluxe or Ultimate edition will gain "early access" to the game on April 6th. The Standard edition of the game will release worldwide 3 days later on April 9th. New Character Giovanna Revealed for Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Arc System Works has revealed a brand new character for Guilty Gear -STRIVE- named Giovanna. We've got Giovanna's reveal trailer and official character artwork so you can take a closer look at her design! Additionally, we now have an official release date for GGStrive in Japan - April 6th, 2020 (PS5/PS4). Furthermore, Season Pass 1 was also announced which will include 5 new characters, extra colors, 2 new stages, and extra story content.

SFV: Champion Edition Free Character Trials Begin Oct. 14th

In addition to making Street Fighter V free to download for PS+ subscribers back in September, Capcom is now offering free trials for all DLC characters this month. How it will work is one Season Pass will be unlocked each week, starting next Wednesday, October 14th, 2020. If you haven't given a go with every SFV character, now is the perfect time to start your pilgrimage and try out the entire roster. Take a look at the full schedule inside!

Arc System Works Hosting ARCREVO 2020 Event This Weekend

Beginning this Saturday, October 10th, Arc System Works is kicking off their ARCREVO 2020 online tournament series featuring tournaments in anime fighting games, including: Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, Granblue Fantasy Versus, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and Under Night In-Birth. If you've been aching for some high-level anime FGC competition, tune in this weekend for UNICLR and BBCF tournaments streaming from Japan.

Rambo Revealed for MK11 Alongside Mileena & Rain

The leaks were true. This morning, NRS announced guest character Rambo along with returning characters Rain & Mileena as DLC for MK11's Kombat Pack 2 - arriving Nov. 17th. This will be the second time this year MK11 was given a title update, now called Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate. Additionally, a free upgrade of MK11 for PS5 and Xbox Series X was announced, which includes: enhanced visuals, 4K resolution, crossplay, and reduced load times.

Mortal Kombat 11 New Character Reveal Tomorrow

On Twitter, NetherRealm Studios posted a short teaser confirming a big announcement tomorrow (October 8th, 2020 at 8:00am CDT). The cinematic teaser shows a Takartan (a member of Baraka's race) fearfully running away from something in a jungle. In case you're not up on the latest leaks (*Spoiler ahead)... fans have been speculating that the Takartan is being chased by none other than Rambo - possibly MK11's next guest character.

Mortal Kombat 4 Endings Remade in Unreal Engine 4

Old school fighting game fans will remember many of the classic 3D Mortal Kombat games had more than a few rough edges... and were not nearly as polished as the modern games we know today. Back in 1998, Mortal Kombat 4's console version endings were notoriously awful... but in recent times, fans have come to appreciate these endings for their humor. For reasons unbeknownst to man, a YouTuber has remade several MK4 endings using Unreal Engine 4.

Pro TaeKwonDo Competition in South Korea Uses TEKKEN Style Life Bars to Keep Score

Point-based martial arts competitions can be difficult to follow for casual spectators. The official Korea TaeKwondo Association recently debuted an impressive new piece of technology which implements "fighting game style" life bars (most closely resembling TEKKEN's) into a live martial arts tournament. Wearable sensors on each competitor's chest and head gear deduct points from their life bar on the big screen - all in real time!

Originally slated for a 2020 release, Breakers Collection an online-enabled "2-pack" for modern consoles containing ports of original Breakers (1996) & Breakers Revenge (1998), will now be coming to PS4, PC, XB1, and Switch in 2021. QUByte released a new trailer for the retro compilation package.

"Guilty Gear x The King of Fighters" Crossover is Happening in KOF '98: Ultimate Match Online

Before you get overly excited... it's not a fighting game, unfortunately. However, Guilty Gear characters are on the way to the mobile RPG title, KOF '98: Ultimate Match Online, marking the first ever crossover for these two iconic series. Sol-Badguy, Ky Kiske, Baiken, and Dizzy are confirmed as playable characters complete with 2D sprites in the game, and are visually based on their GGXrd REV2 iterations

TEKKEN 7 Kunimitsu Screens, TTT2 Classic Costume Confirmed

Bandai Namco shared a new batch of screenshots to get fans even more hype for Kunimitsu II arriving in TEKKEN 7 Season 4. In addition to her new attire, the daughter of the original Kunimitsu will have her mother's TEKKEN Tag 2 costume available to her in T7. If you're familiar with T7's customization, you'll know that you can separate each costume part in Customize mode for use individually - which can make for some nicely aesthetic combinations.

KOF 2002: UM Rollback Netcode Beta Test Begins in October

A fan-favorite installment of The King of Fighters is getting a rollback netcode upgrade on Steam courtesy of Code Mystics the same team behind the rollback update for Garou: Mark of the Wolves. On Twitter, SNK announced an open community beta test for the Steam version of The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match. The open beta will begin this Thursday, October 1st and will be live for two full weeks, ending October 15th.

TEKKEN 7 Sells Over 6 Million Copies Worldwide, New Celebratory Illustration by Takuji Kawano

During the reveal of Kunimitsu joining Season 4, Harada and Michael Murray announced TEKKEN 7 has now sold over 6 million copies since launch. Through the game's widespread success in the competitive scene and at esports events worldwide, TEKKEN 7 far succeeded its original sales expectations, selling even more copies in 2018 and 2019. The upward trend has continued, and Takuji Kawano has graced us with another brilliant 2D illustration...
